The 2014 Labour Day regatta at SoPYC
Same deal as 2013, I'm covering the Laser States at Freshie this weekend as well, but I have lot of fun with the F15's so concentrate on the 15's for the first day and a half and then on to the Laser States.
The first days images are here and the day was a great pleasure.
A slightly dopy seabreeze came in and cooled us all down. Wasn't expected till later but once we were on the water it filled in from the West and started to swing to the left, turning into a classic seabreeze, albeit a light one. As the mark boat/safety boat and photographer's boat, Geoff and I had a good day on the water. Pleased to have Geoff on board as he is a F15 sailor and knew who and what. I had a fair idea , but it's a great help when you can get the goss straight up. Some great line shots late in the day as they came down on a shy reach and only the best went up. There are lots more in stock.
The sun was lowering by the time we had the buoys put on board the start boat and RO Les Swinton and his team packed up and followed us home. Well sailed the Jerwoods, Lillo, Chris and Rupert and the rest of the 16 boats on the water. And there is the young man who needs to replace the elastic in his shorts.
Sunday was not unexpected. A total glass out. We were ready to go on the mark boat and then cooled our heels for an hour or two while the RO waited for the expected westerly to arrive. A couple of jokes under the trees, a glass of water or three and take a few opportunistic photos of people doing b' all. Watched a few ski boats go past carrying wave jumpers and saw the dolphins doing their stuff. Then RO Les called up and sent us off to play. And incidently sent the Red witches away on their long awaited race.
As the race began we were called into play to put in a wing mark, extend the course once or twice and generally have a great time on the water. In between these moments I managed a few photos.
Sorry guys. Last time I volunteer to take pix and do marks at the same time.
I'll stick to carrying a camera from now on.
Enjoy the result. ( the second lot of images)

The 2013 Labour Day regatta at SoPYC
The Labour Day regatta is all about geting onto the water and enjoying the sailing .... and the barbeque afterwards.
The major problem was that they had the 420 States on at the same time, so wisely they didnt sail until Saturday arvo and then got onto the water on Sunday where I had them all to myself for a chance to take images.
A camera that was playing up meant for fun in the darkroom (oops sorry, on the computer), but the faces are all there. Which is what it was about.
