The Last day of the Sports Boat Nationals 2013/4 at FSC
The day was set for champagne sailing.
The start of the day was no more than one of those testing easterlies that was settled in and slowly losing it's strength as it prepared to do battle with the southerly due to come up the coast around lunch time.
With Trevor Milton at the helm it was quite clear that the best course would be laid and so it was, even though the smoke haze was quite evident from the bushfires around Denmark in the deep south of the state.
As I've not been on the course till today (Sunday) I was delighted to see the number of boats from SoPYC and was glad to have a chat to them prior to racing. A full fleet of Vipers, some Shaws and Thompsons, a couple of Melges and an SB20
Careful sailing saw a great race with none of the damage caused by over exuberance in previous days, with the sea breeze filling in from the South, clearing out the smoke haze. The second race was a good day out and Guy Skinner was heard crying out for the number one , still in the car and waiting to go on for the race. It's ok Guy, the wind picked up and the number two was just right for the 3rd race and you were doing alright any way.
Well done the SB20 .. last for almost all the races and still battling on ... the sole representative from the host club, their never say die attitude was refreshing. The last race was filmed so it may get up later on.
You know the results, enjoy some photo's
