2018 Power Opening Day at SoPYC.
On a bright and sunny day, the SoPYC Power Opening Day commenced with the usual ceremonies on the Quarterdeck. Plenty of food and grog available to all and a bloke'd be a little silly not to get a free feed when he had a chance.
As one of the H28 sailors it was our role to get onto the water as the checkpoint boats for the opening day and a bunch of H28 sailors and in some cases their wives, took off to do what has been tradionaly our role for the last 50 years. From my viewpoint there seemed to be slightly less than last year, but nevertheless they were well decked out and some great work had been done for the best decorated boat award. Great to see.
I'm afraid I can't comment on the timing of the boats that came to the mark we were on, as you know what happens on the boat stays on the boat, but I did see one gentleman farmer/ power boat owner drop his dacks to give the boat we were on a " brown eye". The camera caught him pulling up his strides. (That'll teach you.)
We retired to the bar and were thanked by the Power Sailing captain for our duties on the day and it was as usual, a pleasure to help.
