The Wooden Boat Race and Rally 2013
at the South of Perth Yacht Club
For 50 years the H28 Community has been sailing out of South of Perth Yacht club.
Back in 1963, Loyal Weaver and other like minded H28 sailors formed a fleet that then sailed in Division One, but had their own handicaps and as such retained their sense of purpose and community that still exists today. They have always penned together and raced together and if you scratch one, you scratch the fleet........
A great day out on the water in a modest south easterly. A good roll up for lunch; enough senior brass and invited guests to fill Steve Winters Halverson " Saratoga " and a few stray H28's from Mounts Bay and Freo were along for the ride as well. Wonderful to see the cloud of white sails coming toward me at Sampson as I sat there with the camera. Nancy Bourne came for the afternoon along with her boys and PC Bruce Williams was caought on the Q deck at lunch time reminicing on his time in H28's. Many thanks to H28 Chairman Glen Stanley and his team and Commodore Frank Dalglish who officated at presentations and introduced Len Randel as the special guest for the H28 division on this day. Thanks to David Locke for his magnificent H28 table unveiled during the presentations on the day. Thanks also to the sponsors and the SoPYC club who helped in the event.
