North Mole 24th of May 2014
Thank God, we have access to North Mole again and they are not closing it off at the drop of a hat (a stormy day).
I was supposed to be doing a cover at South of Perth Yacht Club for the State time trialing and it was canned, due to the risk to the check boats who would almost certainly drag anchor on such a blowy day.
Great nothing to do and a camera in my hand; I'll go down to North Mole and see if they have locked us out again.
No and the fisho's were having a great time with several large schnapper landed in the few moments that I was there. One particular sequence show's the hazard of landing a big un. Rock scrambling is not high on my agenda but if that's what you have to do to get your fish landed, so be it.
Then back to the large pile of rocks that now forms the edge where the waves crash in-- just where the old truck stop was and there now is a large servo pumping diesel and French fries. There is good walk in access and the guys are surfing right under your nose. (more or less) The first series were from the beach looking at them, the next was from the rocks at the side. Lumpy swell and no real form in the sets, but there was enough power to flatten an elephant in them. Good photographs too.
