The Giants...
Going downstream through the Blackwall Reach
Like every one I was fascinated by the Giants, but not liking crowds and the attendant noise and fuss, I looked for another way to do it. On the river eh? Oh yes.. I can do that.
So where to go. I need a pinch point on the river where they will be in reach with a 300 mill lens. Blackwall Reach was the go, just as they come out to the top of the Reach and slow down.
So get in there and find a spot and wait... supposed to hit Point Resolution at 15oo hrs, but they passed us at 1400 hrs. This is dedicated to young Sam, who pulled up with his father and anxiously asked "Will the Giants come through past here?" Assured that they were, they found a spot and began to watch as the big barge drew nearer.

As you will have noticed, I ducked down to the East St Jetty at East Freo and took up a spot opposite the wharf. What a wonderful sight and so many on lookers. Farewell to the Giants and weren't we lucky.
